UpgradeSashi was appointed as a Consultant General, Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon in October 2016 in Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is also an honorary senior lecturer with the University of Sheffield, a Royal College Surgical Tutor within his NHS hospital and a PLAB examiner for the General Medical Council. Sashi graduated in 2000 and subsequently completed his Masters in Surgery (MS) qualification in general surgery. He has had the good fortune of completing his entire surgical training in Yorkshire, and subsequently completed a fellowship in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery in Concord Hospital, Sydney, Australia. Sashi undertook a period of dedicated lab based research into cancer biology and received a prestigious grant from Yorkshire Cancer Research towards this. He was awarded the MD for his work by the University of Leeds in 2012. He was also awarded a post graduate diploma in Health Reseach by the same University. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2014. He also received visiting fellowship grants from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and others to visit the bariatric and Upper GI units in London, Brugge, Melbourne and Brisbane. His areas of interest include general surgery including hernias, Upper GI surgery including for reflux and gall stones, and bariatric surgery. He also has a special interest in Upper GI endoscopy. His research interests include reflux, bariatric surgery and general surgery with several publications and presentations in national and international conferences. He has an active interest in teaching and is an invited faculty both regionally and nationally
