UpgradeMr Jeff Garner has been a consultant surgeon specialising in colon, rectum and anal surgery since 2009. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps for more than 25 years and deployed in support of military operations to Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He maintains an interest in trauma surgery, teaching on a number of trauma surgery courses and acting as Editor-in-Chief of the journal 'TRAUMA', as well as writing a number of book chapters on a variety of trauma topics. In his NHS practice he has established a complex abdominal wall reconstruction service for the assessment, management and repair of complex, giant or recurrent abdominal wall hernias. He has recently published a textbook on complex abdominal wall reconstruction and regularly teaches the surgical techniques involved on a number of courses around the country. He regularly undertakes advanced laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder, bowel and hernia problems within the NHS, as well as upper (gastroscopy) and lower (colonoscopy/flexible sigmoidoscopy) gastrointestinal endoscopy.
