UpgradeMr Taher Abdelrahman is a Consultant Knee Surgeon at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, recognised for combining technical excellence with a compassionate, patient-centred approach. He completed his higher surgical training in the Northwest London Deanery, gaining experience across leading institutions including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Imperial College London, before undertaking advanced specialist fellowships in Canada.
His practice focuses on knee preservation and sports injury management, including ligament reconstruction, complex meniscal repair, patellofemoral instability, and cartilage restoration. Drawing on experience treating high-performance athletes, he tailors surgical techniques to each individual, prioritising joint preservation wherever possible through approaches such as meniscal repair and realignment osteotomy with 3D-planned precision.
When joint replacement is required, he specialises in partial knee arthroplasty, aiming to restore natural function and enable a faster, more intuitive recovery. Committed to delivering the highest standards of care, he integrates the latest international research through active membership of ESSKA and ISAKOS, and supports patients throughout their journey with clear communication and shared decision-making.
