Rina was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon in June 2015 in Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Trust, where her NHS practice is based.

Rina graduated from Nottingham University Medical School in 1998 and did the majority of her surgical training in South Yorkshire, after undertaking a period of research in the genetics of colorectal cancer at Sheffield University. As a trainee, Rina won the National Prize from the Pelvic Floor Society, and won the Travelling Fellows Award from the Royal Society of Medicine, presenting her work on a National and International level. 

Rina became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons on 2012, after passing the final Intercollegiate Examination in General Surgery.  She subsequently became the Goligher Colorectal Fellow at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which consolidated her laparoscopic and specialist colorectal skills.

She holds an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturers post at the University of Sheffield and is Undergraduate Lead for General Surgery within her NHS Trust. She is also a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.

Rina has a specialist interest in colorectal cancer surgery and functional bowel disorders.
