Mr Misra entered the medical school at the Madurai Medical college in India in 1996 and qualified as a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 2002. Following this, he completed his general surgical residency at GSVM medical college, India followed by neurosurgical residency from the prestigious Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum in 2011.

He worked in India in various capacities including associate professor of neurosurgery, and Neurosurgical consultant in reputed healthcare groups before coming to the UK in 2020.

In the UK, Mr Misra undertook spinal training in various institutions for 3 years, including the Walton centre for neurology and neurosurgery (Liverpool), Alder Hey Children’s Hospital (Liverpool) and Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital (Oswestry). This has endowed him with rich and diverse experience in spinal sub-specialty.

Mr Misra has published widely in neurosurgical and spinal fields and continues to engage in academic and research activities which is very intellectually stimulating. He is currently a consultant in spinal surgery with the Swansea Bay University Health board with Hospital base at Morriston.

His areas of interest in spinal surgery include adult degenerative conditions including deformity, disc prolapse and intradural spinal tumours.
