James is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Sheffield Children's NHS Trust and Barnsley District General Hospital delivering paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction services including special interest in foot and ankle surgery. His paediatric special interests are in limb reconstruction, congenital birth defects, DDH, CTEV, Skeletal dysplasias especially Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Perthe’s disease and post traumatic deformities.

Positions of additional responsibility: 2012-14 President elect of the British Limb Reconstruction Society; 2011-13 Executive committee member British society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery; 2010 -14 Orthopaedic member and treasurer of the UK Skeletal dysplasia group executive committee; 2009 -12 Secretary of the British Limb Reconstruction Society; 2007 -09 Executive committee member of British Limb reconstruction society; 2008 - on-going, Examiner at the Intercollegiate Board examinations and an Expert to NICE, UK.
