How to recover following Total Ankle Replacement?

After the operation you will be placed in a plaster cast non-weight bearing for 2 weeks.

I will see you in clinic after 2 weeks to remove this and check the wound has healed.

At this point we would start physiotherapy and allow you to mobilise walking on the new joint. I will give you a boot to wear for comfort and protection as you wish. Some patients use this more than others, but we encourage movement as soon as able.
