Abhinay Kamat MBBS; MS; DNB; FRCS; FRCS (Neuro. Surg) – Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon (Spine Specialist) Mr Abhinay Kamat is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon with a special interest in Complex Cervical and Lumbar spine surgery.
He has been performing spinal operations since 1996 and has a wide multinational experience in the field of Spinal surgery in addition to General Neurosurgery and General surgery. He completed his higher surgical training in Neurosurgery on the South Yorkshire training programme with a wide exposure to all spinal operations including complex spinal surgery. He has worked as a Spinal Fellow and later as a Consultant Neurosurgeon with a special interest in Spinal surgery at the John Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, UK. He has been involved in research and has published papers and has presented his work at national and international level.
He has been a Honorary Lecturer and a university examiner at the Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals and has also been involved in teaching medical students at the Oxford University. He has been involved in training and evaluating budding neurosurgeons and spinal surgeons.
Mr Kamat has joined the One Health Group (OHG) as a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon providing a comprehensive spinal service (OHG offers a complete diagnostic, conservative and surgical management service.)
He is a member of the British association of Spinal surgeons, Soceity of British Neurosurgeons, British medical association and other medical organisations. He has participated in the European Spine Diploma course and has gained further experience in minimally invasive spine surgery and image guided spinal surgery.

Amanda Rees MB; BChir; FRCS(orth) - Knee Specialist Amanda took up her post as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Rotherham District General in 1993. Her major interest is knee surgery, particularly ligament reconstruction and joint replacement. This interest was stimulated following a post as Research Fellow in knee surgery in London. She is presently Clinical Director of the Orthopaedic Services at Rotherham District General Hospital and an active member of the prestigious national and international knee surgery and sports trauma organizations.

Andrew Howard MB; ChB; FRCS; FRCS(orth) - Spine Specialist Mr Howard graduated from Sheffield University in 1985. He undertook his basic and higher surgical training on the Sheffield University Teaching Hospitals training programmes. He spent one year as a clinical fellow in Adelaide as part of his higher surgical training specialising in Spinal surgery. During his training he was Secretary and then President of the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association.
In 1997 he was appointed as a consultant spinal surgeon to the Sheffield University Hospitals NHS Trust and made honorary senior lecturer to the University of Sheffield. He also became Director of Post Graduate Medical Education. In 2004 he joined the One Health Group and is developing spinal services for this "chamber" of orthopaedic surgeons.
A comprehensive spinal service has been established in Sheffield and Windsor. Mr Howard in conjunction with the Woking Nuffield Hospital has now started a spinal service in Woking offering a complete diagnostic, conservative and surgical management service.

Bruno Gerber FMH (Orth); MD; - Lower Limb Bruno Gerber did his orthopaedic surgical specialist training including a full programme at a linked Foot & Ankle Unit at the Orthopaedic Department of the Basel University Teaching Hospitals in Switzerland where at the end he was responsible for the arthroscopic surgery service. He completed a fellowship at the Arthritic & Orthopaedic Hospital in Toronto / Canada before taking over the post of a surgeon in chief of the orthopaedic department in the County General Hospital of Neuchatel /Switzerland. He is now a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the University Hospital Lewisham London delivering a comprehensive lower limb surgery.
He focuses on biological reconstructive joint surgery owing to his basic research experience with cartilage and cruciate ligament repair and development of patello-femoral reshaping surgery. As an expert in orthopaedic laser surgery he is the medical advisory board member of a European project developing new higher precision laser technology for use in joints.
He has a special interest in computer assisted surgical navigation and has built up a reference centre for.orthopaedic implementation including the full range of hip surgery, cruciate ligament repairs and all knee implants as well as some corrective osteotomies. He is developing further applications for hip osteotomies, cartilage repair, patello-femoral joint and in foot & ankle surgery.

Derek Bickerstaff MD; FRCS; FRCSEd - Knee Specialist Derek is a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in knee surgery, particularly arthroscopic and ligament reconstruction commonly required in sports injuries. He also has a particular interest in Computer Navigated Knee Replacement. He is recognised as one of the UK's leading knee surgeons and takes referrals nationally and internationally including many high profile athletes.
He has held appointments as the Knee Tutor at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and served as an executive member of the British Association of Surgery of the Knee. He has also served on the board of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. Derek is frequently invited to lecture on knee surgery at national and international meetings.

Fazal Ali; MBBS FRCS (Eng); FRCS (Tr&Orth) - Specialist Knee Surgeon, Honorary Senior Lecturer Fazal Ali is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon since 2004 with a special interest in knee surgery. His subspecialist interests include Sports Injuries and the management of the Young Arthritic Knee.
Training was in Sheffield and Fellowships were in Newcastle upon Tyne and New York. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) and the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy (ESSKA).
Mr Ali manages all aspects of sporting injuries to the knee using minimally invasive techniques. These include both primary and revision, single and complex ligament reconstructions. Meniscal surgery including repair is also undertaken. He also offers all the surgical options for the management of the young patient with knee arthritis. These include, partial knee replacements, total knee replacements ( with computer navigation guidance ), high tibial osteotomies and cartilage filling procedures.
Education plays a significant part of the professional life of Fazal Ali. He is Undergraduate Tutor for the University of Sheffield and has recently been appointed the Academic Programme Director for the South Yorkshire RegistrarTraining Scheme. For his input into registrar training he has been voted South Yorkshire Orthopaedic Trainer of the Year an unprecedented 5 times ( 2005,2007,2009,2010,2011). He was shorlisted in 2011 as one of the top 3 trainers in the UK. He presently serves as an Examiner for the Intercollegiate Board in the FRCS(Tr&Orth) Exams.

James Fernandes M.S. (Orth); M.ch (Orth); FRCS (Orth) - Foot & Ankle Specialist James is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Sheffield Childrens NHS Trust and Barnsley District General Hospital delivering paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction services including special interest in foot and ankle surgery. He also specialises in adult foot and ankle disorders including forefoot surgery i.e. Hallux Valgus (bunion), Metatarsalgia and toe deformities in his private practice at BMI Thornbury Hospital.
He has had broad training in general Orthopaedics in India, Liverpool and Sheffield in the UK, with further double fellowship training in paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction at Sheffield Childrens Hospital a Centre of Excellence. He is a member of the British Society for Childrens Orthopaedic Surgery, British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, Skeletal Dysplasia Group and is a committee member of the British Limb Reconstruction Society. Jark Bosma MD; FRCSEd; FRCSEd (SN) - Spine Specialist I did my basic medical training at the State University of Ghent and obtained my MD in 1990. My postgraduate training was based in England. This included a year of training in the West Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries, followed by six months of training in neurology at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Liverpool. I then joined the Spinal Surgery Unit at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry.
Following completion of basic surgical training I passed the FRCS examination in Edinburgh in 1995. After this I entered the neurosurgical training program at the Walton Centre and passed the neurosurgical specialty examination in 2000. I worked briefly in Spinal Orthopaedic surgery in Zurich (Switzerland) in 2001. This comprehensive training has given me a wide experience in Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spinal Surgery. From 2002 I have worked as Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon and Honorary Senior lecturer in Neurosurgery at the Teaching Hospitals in Southampton and Sheffield.
I have written a number of scientific publications and presented some work internationally. I teach on international courses and I am a European Reference Centre for cervical disc replacement. I have a special interest in spinal problems in athletes.

Joe Garcia FRCS(orth) – Hand & Wrist Specialist Joe is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a general practice including hip and knee replacements and a special interest in hand surgery at the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital. His appointment followed a one year Hand Fellowship at the internationally renowned St. Luke's and Sydney Hospital Hand Unit in Sydney, Australia. He is well known in the local community and his interests encompass treatments for conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Dupuytrens Disease, arthroscopic surgery of the wrist, complex reconstructions for traumatic bone, joint and soft tissue hand injuries and the treatment of the painful, debilitating conditions of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Kalid Abdlslam FRCS (Tr.&Orth.); MSc; FRCS (Glasgow) Knee and Hip Specialist and Honorary Senior Lecturer Kalid is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon who specialises in Knee Surgery.
Kalid has an intensive post graduate training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in Germany and the UK. His training in the UK was in Birmingham, Sheffield and Nottingham. During his training he has undertaken research into variety of orthopaedic problems which he has published in peer reviewed journals and also presented this work both nationally and internationally.
As a consultant he continues to play an active role in training medical student, junior doctors and trainee surgeons. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons, Member of the British Orthopaedic Association and Member of The British Association for Surgery of the Knee.

Matthew Morris MBChB; MRCS; FRCS; Tr & Orth - Foot & Ankle Specialist Matt is a Consultant lower limb Surgeon at Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal NHS Trust. He completed his surgical training in Sheffield before undertaking a Specialist Foot and Ankle Fellowship in Australia for a year. Here he worked with the President of the Australian Foot and Ankle Society as well as two other internationally renowned specialists. He also spent time at the Schulthess clinic in Zurich with one of the worlds leading Foot and Ankle surgeons and designer of a total ankle replacement. Matt specialises in all surgery of the foot and ankle including ankle replacement, arthritis treatment, arthroscopic surgery, sports injuries and forefoot deformity such as hallux valgus surgery as well as knee replacements.

Narendra Garneti Msc; MRCS; MCh (Orth); FRCS (Tr & Orth) – Knee & Hip Specialist Naren Garneti is a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in Hip and Knee surgery. His subspecialist interests include primary and revision Lower Limb Arthroplasty and management of peri-prosthetic fractures.
Mr Garneti trained at Leeds on the Yorkshire Higher Surgical training programme. He underwent sub-specialty Fellowship training in primary and revision lower limb arthroplasty in New Zealand and Bristol. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Medical Association, British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) and British Hip Society (BHS).
Mr Garneti is active in research, presented at International, National and Regional meetings, and has several publications to his credit. Education is an important part of his curriculum. He is engaged in teaching and training Registrars and Middle Grades at Rotherham General Hospital.

Sanjeev Madan FRCS (Orth); MSc (Bioeng); MCh (Orth); MBA - Foot & Ankle/Hip & Knee Specialist Mr Madan graduated from Bombay University in 1990 and did his Orthopaedic training in Bombay and then in Wessex, England. He did further specialist training in Memphis, New York, U.S.A, Oxford, and Berne, Switzerland.
