The Chesterfield Sports Injury Clinic was launched on the 25th February 2010. It is based at the BMI Chatsworth Suite in Chesterfield and is run by five Orthopaedic consultants from the One Health Group.
All aspects of sports injuries are managed by a multidisciplinary approach which involves one or more of the specialist surgeons and physiotherapists from the physiotherapy network. State of the art surgical techniques are used by all surgeons.
The surgeons involved are Fazal Ali (knee surgery), Shantanu Shahane ( shoulder and elbow surgery), Joe Garcia (hand and wrist surgery), Matt Morris (foot and ankle surgery) and John Wright (upper limb surgery)

The One Health Group has been designated one of the BBraun Resource centres for Navigated Knee replacement in the UK.
Navigated knee replacement is one of the latest advances in knee replacement surgery and allows the surgeon to more accurately place the implants and balance the ligaments around the knee at the time of surgery. The technique involves the use of input from a computer navigation system which accurately maps out the patients limb alignment at the time of surgery. The system then directs the surgeon in the optimum orientation of cutting jigs to allow accurate replacement of the knee restoring the patients natural limb alignment, and restoring their range of movement. It is well recognised that incorrect orientation of the implants results in a 4 fold increase in failure rate of knee replacements when reviewed at ten years. It is expected that the optimum alignment of the implants using this system will limit the long-term failure rate of knee implants. There is increasing evidence that correct ligament balancing using this system also more accurately restores the patients normal walking gait pattern.
Mr Bickerstaff and Mr Ali are currently using this system and receive referrals, both private and NHS, from around the region. The hospitals they work in are fully equipped to perform this surgery with the full support of the BBraun surgical team. We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Professor David Whitney BA, MA as a Non-Executive Director of OneHealth Group Limited
As an NHS manager by background, David was a director of the Trent Regional Health Authority from 1985 to 1990 and chief executive of Central Sheffield Hospitals NHS Trust from 1990 to 2001
He is currently Honorary Chair of the Sheffield Centre for Health and Related Research (Sheffield University), Associate Senior Fellow Keele University, a Non-Executive Director of Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Chair of that organisation’s Clinical Governance Committee.
David has been appointed to lead OneHealth Group’s strategy to enhance Clinical Governance, Audit and Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMS).
