Vivek Panikkar is a Consultant Spinal Surgeon based at the Parkhill Hospital , Doncaster. He graduated from medical school in 1986 and completed specialist Orthopaedic training in 2006 at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham. He subsequently undertook a Spinal Surgery fellowship in Colorado before joining as a Consultant in 2007.

Vivek's specialist interests are in spinal surgery. He has over 15 years experience in the surgical and non-surgical management of a wide range of routine and complex spinal conditions including lumbar disc herniation, lumbar spinal stenosis, and cervical spine degeneration. He performs over 300 spinal operations annually, ranging from minimally invasive procedures for typically common lumbar spine disc conditions to more advanced procedures for spinal trauma .

At Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospital, he has held the posts of Clinical Lead for spinal surgery in the department of Orthopaedics. He has a keen interest in teaching and has been involved as a faculty member on spine teaching courses both nationally and internationally.
